Your brand consists of everything from your work ethic to your personal style and even the way you communicate.

In essence you can think of your personal brand simply as the unique way that others see you.

Your personal brand is what separates you from those around you.

For example, when your name is mentioned at work to your manager or co-workers, what one word immediately comes to their mind? Is that word something positive like “leader”, “positive”, “go-getter” or is it something less than desirable such as “problematic” or “negative”?

The good news is the one person you are in control of your brand and you have the power to build it the way that you choose.

The following is a list of several tips that you can use to help you build your brand and set yourself apart in the workplace.

Developing Your Personal Brand
If you’re really serious about building a successful career, then you should focus on building your own personal brand. A brand is a mix of characteristics that exemplifies who you are and what you stand for.

Ethics And Integrity In The Workplace
• Ask individuals that you trust and respect for their opinion of things that you can to do help improve how you are perceived at work.

• Be careful who you associate with, as chances are you may be judged by the company you keep.

• Write down a list of things you say or do that aren’t conducive to where you want to go or what you want to achieve and then work to eliminate those things from your life.

• Your life and your career will always change and so your personal brand should be able to adapt and be fluid enough to keep up with the pace.

• If you have made a mistake or have fallen from grace, don’t beat yourself – simply own your wrongdoing and then work hard to restore your good name.

• Recognize that you won’t be able to change everyone’s opinion or perception of you, and that’s ok, just learn to set a standard for yourself and live up to that standard regardless of who doesn’t like you, support you, or believe in you.
